Can I use a Wireless router with a powerline adapter?
I know that you can get powerline adapters with wireless. I also know that you can use a wireless router as a repeater for the wireless network. But can you repeat that network through a powerline adapter? If so will you also be able to connect to the Ethernet ports at the back? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
I'm not quite clear on the setup you're referring to. Are you talking about simply hooking up one end of a powerline adapter kit to one of the available ports on your wireless router and providing an Ethernet feed that way? Or are you talking about using a secondary wireless router (not the primary router you've got hooked into your cable modem or whatever your ISP is providing) as a means to pick up the signal from the primary router, then provide an Ethernet feed to a powerline adapter kit?
It all depends on the specific topology you're talking about... but depending on the which topology you've got in mind, there's probably a way to get it to work. Powerline adapter kits themselves are pretty simple, straightforward devices; there's no real management involved. They just pick up an Ethernet connection at one end and pass it through to the other end using your building's power grid.
Design & Purpose - Ethernet Adapters
