How do I reset my compaq presario to factory settings?
I need to reset my Compaq Presario laptop to factory settings. I tried pressing F10, F12, F1, F8, while booting up, but none of those led me to the menu to reset to factory settings. I running Windows XP. The reason I want to reset to factory settings is because I keep getting the blue screen of death. Please help.
I'm sure that you have googled this, but if you haven't... do it. I have a Toshiba, and when I googled how to reset it, I was told to:
1. Turn it off.
2. Hold the "0" key.
3. Turn it on.
4. While rebooting, repeatedly tap the "0" key.
5. Follow the instructions.
This probably won't work for you, but you could try it. Just google "how to reformat Compaq Presario".
My other advice to you is get a new laptop. Windows XP is terrible compared to Windows 7. I know you may not have the money, but it is worth it.
