Could a loose connection between my ethernet cord (LAN line) and modem be causing my internet to be slow?
I would imagine it does cause my internet to be slow, but I just wanted to be sure. The modem is pretty cheaply made and is very small. The ethernet cord plugs into it very loosely, and although the status light is green (only after wiggling it for ten minutes) my DSL internet speed is really slow. Could replacing the modem and getting a snug fit connection solve my slow internet problem?
There is mainly 2 things that can affect dsl speeds from the provider:
1- a bad modem/ equipment
2- problems on the phone line
You can call ur dsl provider and ask them to perform a test that will determine if there is problems on ur phone line or not. Depending on the providers the rsults culd be done in minutes.
In general DSL modems are bad and low quality around the world, so they break easily. So yes, exchanging it will increase your quality of service.
In your computer. Remember to clear your temporary files. If u have antivirus keep it up to date and shut down your windos firewall.

How to install our broadband modem and how to fax with broadband internet
The broadband technologies in present days are very well settled in our lives. Thanks to them, we can use a huge amount of information, watch online televisions and download music from many web sites.
We can't access the internet without broadband modem. If we have that modem and if we don't know how to install it, we must follow several instructions, which will help us to connect to the internet.
First of all we'll need some equipment like broadband modem, broadband cable for internet, power adapter and telephone cord (if we'll use ADSL modem). The broadband modem includes a manual, which will helps us, when we want to install that modem. The first step is to read that manual and after that we must connect the cable to any of the ports of our modem and to the Ethernet/LAN ports, which are on our computer. Then we must plug and switch the power adapter to our modem and we must be sure, that all devices are connected, and after that we can start to set up our modem. When we enter in our Web Browser, we must type the administrative site of our modem. This site is located in the manual of our broadband modem. After that we must login with the password and the username, which we'll find again in the manual. If we don't find these password and username, we must contact the customer service of our internet service provider. When we are ready with that step, the next one is to choose our connection type. The connection types are several: dynamic and static IP address, PPPoA/PPPoE and Bridge mode. When we are ready with our choice, we'll need to type in the VCI, VPI, Server Address, Subnet Mask and DNS Address connection type. These details are provided by our ISP (Internet Service Provider). If our ISP uses Bridge Mode we must choose that connection type and our modem should be ready up now. To check our internet connection, we must open our internet browser and type some internet address there.
Many people today prefer to use broadband internet, than the fax machine. We can send faxes, thanks to our broadband connection. For that operation we need only some software and a computer. First we must be sure that our broadband is working and our connections and firewall settings are set up. After that we must download the certain software. That software will allow us to receive faxes on our email and other free fax applications. The next step is to install that software and read the instructions, which are into it. After that we must select our document (DOC and PDF files) and if we have a scanner, the software will allow us to fax directly from the fax machine. The last step is to send some fax to anyone and if we have success with that operation, which means that we can start to use that kind for faxing in future.
