How well will this laptop run games?
So, I'm gonna buy a Dell Vostro 1000 (it's what I have the money for) and I'm gonna get one with these specs:
PROCESSOR: AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 Dual-Core processor TK-57 (1.9GHz/256KB)
OPERATING SYSTEM: Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic, Service Pack 1
LCD PANEL: 15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA LCD Display with TrueLife
MEMORY:2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 Dimm
HARD DRIVE: 120GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
OPTICAL DRIVE: 24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive with Cyberlink Power DVD
VIDEO CARD: ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 256MB HyperMemory™ (integrated)
WI-FI WIRELESS: CARDDell Wireless 1395 802.11g Wi-Fi Internal Card
Would I be able to play somewhat involved games with that? Maybe even Oblivion (with everything turned to low, of course)? Just thought I'd get some input on it.
I can't get more RAM than 2GB.
Also, you can get Vista Premium, but I can't spend the extra $50 to get it.
Because of the integrnated graphics card, I can't say you'll do well with games. Oblivion turned on low might work, but don't try running anything like BioShock or Crysis.
Also, why Home Basic? It should be just $50 more for Home Premium, and yes, Home Premium _is_ better than Basic. (Wait...can a Vostro come with Premium?)
